Ribbit! Ribbit! A whole lotta frog fun will be going on at Harlan Levey Projects next week. From Saturday 6 April until Tuesday 9 April, the Frog King – one of the first performance and conceptual artists to emerge from China, and the Hong Kong representative at the Venice Biennale in 2011 – and his Queen will be organising workshops there. And we’ve got two tickets for the workshops to give away!

Le travail du plasticien pakistanais Noor Ali Chagani a déjà été présenté à l’Institut du monde arabe à Paris et au Victoria and Albert Museum de Londres. La Joye Gallery l’expose pour la première fois dans notre pays, aux côtés de Farid Saleem Kamboh.

With the exhibition “Don’t Shoot! We Are Not Armed!”, Recyclart is opening its doors to South African underground comics. And if you use the words "underground comics" and "South Africa" in the same sentence, chances are you're talking about Bitterkomix, the razor-sharp comic strip magazine founded in the early 1990s. We had the privilege to serve up some questions to founder and comics artist Anton Kannemeyer!

A hellish roar is coming from the bowels of the Station Brussel-Kapellekerk/Gare Bruxelles-Chapelle, where Recyclart is opening its doors to South African underground comics with the exhibition “Don’t Shoot! We Are Not Armed!” On the opening night, all hands are in the air for DJ Nie Bang Nie, Frisk Frugt, and Awesome Tapes From Africa.

Lorsque nous l'avons rencontré pour découvrir sa Wunderkammer, Olivier Goka savait qu'il exposerait l'impressionnante Collection Vonpischmeyer au Musée royal de l'Afrique Centrale, mais il ne savait pas encore quand exactement. C'est maintenant chose faite : ce sera du 28 mars au 31 août. Avis aux amateurs d'art africain véritablement faux et en plastique recyclé : une visite guidée est organisée le 7 avril à 15 heures.

Wassily Kandinsky is recognised as one of the first painters who made the switch from figurative to abstract art. The slightly overdone “Kandinsky & Russia” exhibition shows how that move fitted in with Kandinsky’s development as a painter and the evolution of the influences he was subject to.

Burning Ice is het jaarlijkse festival van het Kaaitheater, waarin bekeken wordt in welke mate onze aardbol klimatologisch nog steeds naar de kl*ten aan het gaan is, en wat daar artistiek gezien eventueel kan over gezegd of tegenin gebracht worden.

The Brussels art scene is becoming increasingly French. Our neighbours to the south are often in a majority in art education; more and more French gallery-owners are opening branches in Brussels; and collectors are settling in ever greater numbers in Ukkel/Uccle and Elsene/Ixelles as they flee François Hollande’s wealth tax. And right now the Centrale for Contemporary Art has gone all blue, white, and red too: it has invited the French Centre National des Arts Plastiques to join forces with it in putting together an exhibition.

Kunstenaars worden weleens afgeschilderd als een werkschuw volkje dat er een liederlijk leven op na houdt. Dat klopt wel voor een paar kunstenaars uit mijn onmiddellijke omgeving, maar het is tegenwoordig toch eerder uitzondering dan regel. Mladen Stilinovic, een kunstenaar uit voormalig Joegoslavië, daarentegen, houdt een pleidooi voor de luiheid.
