Het is niet dat er niets meer misloopt in de wereld, maar toch lijkt het rebelse karakter van de jeugd van tegenwoordig eerder beperkt. Hoe zit het tegenwoordig nog met de mens in opstand? Dat vragen vier makers zich af in de nieuwe Bronks-productie Operatie Charlie.

Jean-Louis Trintignant préfère la scène à l’écran. Il revient, sans doute pour la dernière fois, avec un spectacle musical autour des poèmes de Boris Vian, Jacques Prévert et Robert Desnos. Trois poètes engagés dans les combats du XX^e siècle, qui ont su « parler légèrement de choses graves et gravement de choses légères ».

Zijn bankrekening is leeg, zegt hij, maar Jonas Winterland klinkt toch voldaan. Dertig is hij inmiddels, en in plaats van een huis te bouwen heeft hij een plaat gemaakt. Hij heeft er minstens even lang aan moeten schaven, maar als visitekaartje kan het resultaat tellen.

De muziek van jazzpianist Vijay Iyer bestempelen als eclectisch, is een understatement. Iyer waagt zich zowel aan Mozart als aan Michael Jackson, studeerde klassiek maar is ook actief in de meer experimentele improvisatiescene. Én hij heeft enkele wetenschappelijke diploma’s op zak.
