Tomorrow's World: a dark, romantic retro trip

(© James Kelly)

Being 43 years old, Jean-Benoît Dunckel of the French duo Air is a child of the Seventies. The English singer Lou Hayter was born ten years later, on the eve of the Eighties. Tomorrow’s World bridges the musical generation gap with a mutual preference for melancholy retro-chic.

Kurt Vile strikes gold

He’s 33, has Jesus hair, but he’ll never be a superstar. So what? On his fifth album, neo-slacker Kurt Vile produces one epic gem after the other from behind his long manes. “I found something magical every time.”

Bleached: Blondes on Blondie

The summery Apéros Urbains have become incredibly popular over the last few years. Particularly in uptown Brussels, a place to see and be seen where everybody likes to enjoy a cool drink after work. People crying out for more, could head over to the after-parties that have been organised in various Brussels clubs since last year. This year, the festive journey through boroughs, squares, and parks will be kicked off with a twelve-hour party in a "crazy old building" (Solvay) at the crossing of the rue du Prince Albert and the chaussée d'Ixelles. The after-party will be held in The Wood at the Bois de la Cambre from 11 pm, where DJs will party on until the wee hours, and where they will be joined by the Dutch deep house DJ Karmon.

Les Apéros Urbains 24/5, 17.00, gratis/gratuit/free, Crazy Old Building, op de kruising van Prins Albertstraat & Elsensesteenweg/au croisement de la rue du Prince Albert et la chaussée d'Ixelles, Elsene/Ixelles, aperos.netevents.be & Circus Pocus 24/5, 23.00, The Wood, Floralaan 1 avenue de Flore, Brussel/Bruxelles, www.thewood.be
